 | This is a monument in honor of
Yukiemon Kuroda and his four
other loyal workers of the Satsuma
Clan (old Kagoshima prefecture).
They were sent out to relieve
the people in Gifu prefecture
who often suffered from floods.
Despite their enormous amount of
work and commitment, they had
to take the blame for all of the
sacrificed lives in the extreme
task. The governmentfs mis-
treatment eventually led them to
compensate the lost lives with
their own deaths. |
