It runs for about 1km at where the banks of the Ibi and Nagara River meet. It is said that these trees were planted by the workers of the Satsuma Clan (old Kagoshima prefecture) in 1755, right after the flood control construction was completed. You can find a monument at the south of the grove, remembering the sacrificed lives behind the scene. It is reserved as one of the national historic sites since Jul. 12, 1940. |
